The history of watchmaking in Russia abounds in names of great masters. Here belongs a great Russian enlighter Mikhaylo Lomonosov, a gifted self-taught craftsman Ivan Kulibin, a clockmaker Lev Nechaev and many others. Talented inventors, artists and craftsmen – all of them glorified Russia in their mechanical pieces. Collectivization of the Soviet period closed doors on individual watchmakers, huge plants were the only players on the market. They were producing mass products, dull and strict, which complied with GOST 10733-98. They may have been dull but they were high-quality and reliable movements made in the USSR. Nowadays, old traditions of Russian watchmakers are prone to oblivion.
