Only Watch World Tour starts in Los-Angeles

The first exhibition of the World Tour preceeding the Only Watch charity auction, one of the main events of the year in the watchmaking world, opened on September 6 in Los-Angeles. The auction takes place in Geneva every two years since 2005. In 2023 the touring exhibition showcasing the participating watches will travel, in addition to Los-Angeles, to six other cities around the world: New York, Monaco, Hongkong, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, and, finally, Geneva, where the auction itself will take place on November 5. This tour is an important event for all connoisseurs of the watchmaking art and possible buyers: at the exhibition they can see the watches in person and make an informed decision about the potential purchase.

For the Only Watch biennale, participating watchmakers create new models, each one of them only existing as a singular unique piece. They will be sold at the auction all proceedings from which will be donated to the foundation for curing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. The founder of the auction, Luc Pettavino, is the president of Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies. Christie's auction is a long-established partner of the event.

Konstantin Chaykin will participate in the Only Watch auction for the fourth time. This year, his Stargazer watch will be the most complicated model of the auction. The Stargazer has two dials and 16 functions, including astronomical complications. Among them are two of Chaykin's latest inventions: sunrise and sunset azimuth indication and a discrete moonphase indicator. The movement consists of 664 parts. According to the master himself, it is the most complicated wristwatch he ever created, and the experts estimate it to be one of the most complicated wristwatches in wathcmaking history.
